Happy Sunday, Christians!

I think that as long as organized religions continue to hold sway we will never have a tolerant, harmonious society. I realize that this is an outrageous statement to make, however it is nowhere near as outrageous as the hideous atrocities I have seen committed in the name of God. From the Crusades onward, people have used organized religion to push their own agendas forward, while keeping their followers ignorant and subdued. They preach love and equality while telling their congregation to ostracize anyone with a different set of beliefs. To say that someone is a good person because they are religious is like inferring that someone is a good driver because they own a car. The two do not have to be, and most frequently aren't, mutually exclusive. I have never seen an atheist disown a child for being gay or hate a complete stranger for not sharing the same invisible moral guide. Perhaps I'm being judgmental myself, but my assumptions come from facts and experiences, not Dogma and scripture.
